Senior Payroll Officer

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for preparing and running our weekly and monthly payrolls using Iris Cascade Payroll system. You will also be responsible for managing payroll projects as directed, such as testing new software, and electronic timesheet management. Previous experience of working in a payroll environment and using Iris Cascade Payroll system is essential for this role.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and run weekly & monthly payrolls for both Glyndebourne Productions and Glyndebourne Enterprises using Iris Cascade integrated payroll/HR software. Tasks will include:
    • Checking & calculating timesheets
    • Calculation of holiday pay
    • Input into payroll systems
    • Submitting payroll files to Lloyds
    • Submitting RTI Submissions
    • Processing Auto-enrolment
    • Uploading files to the People’s Pension
    • Creating reports and general ledger files
    • Dealing with payment queries from employees
    • Dealing with leavers, calculating pay, providing P45s etc.
    • Maintenance of payroll, e.g. adding new employees, pay increases etc. and including updating some HR information required for each employee
    • Maintaining a good working knowledge of union agreements and current payroll legislation
    • Typing routine payroll letters and sending responses to routine requests from HMRC, DWP etc.
  • Managing payroll projects as directed, such as testing new software, and electronic timesheet management.
  • Absence cover for Payroll Manager and other Senior Payroll Officer.
  • Perform other reasonable job-related or ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager

A high degree of confidentiality is essential, particularly in respect of contracts and payments.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience in a payroll environment, preferably CIPP qualified
  • Experience of using Iris Cascade Payroll system
  • Experience of complex employment arrangements including union agreements, timesheets and variable working terms
  • Ability to work extremely accurately to tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills – for team working and also for dealing with payroll queries from the company
  • Good computer skills including Google Apps, Excel and Word and strong experience with integrated payroll/HR software

Hours of Work

The contractual hours of work are 35 hours per week 9:00am-5:00pm Monday - Friday with a one hour lunch break.  However, applications for 28 hours/ 4 days per week would be considered.

Salary and Benefits

We can offer a salary of up to £36,700 per annum, pro rata.

We offer 33 days (6.6 weeks) holiday inclusive of bank holidays, per annum, pro rata. We also give additional non-contractual closure dates at Christmas.
